It's all about the food!

Breakfast this morning...
Wheatbix with apples, plums and plain yogurt drizzled with honey
I became a butcher today and got myself a tiny blister on my right palm! I really salute the poultry seller in the wet market in Malaysia! They make skinning chicken look so easy! So if they charge you few cents more, don't kira-kira la...it's a tough job!
The chicken costs 5pounds for two boxes and hence, I bought two boxes but obviously I wouldn't be able to finish it on time before it turns bad. So I usually freeze my chicken and two boxes can last me a month. No joke! Anyway, I always skin the chicken when I want to cook it and sometimes I debone it too depending on what I am cooking. Instead of skinning and deboning it every time I cook, I decided to skin and debone all before freezing it.
The box of chicken thighs I skinned and deboned!
The box of drumsticks I skinned which gave me a blister!
When the skin reaches the bottom bit, it gets stuck and super hard to pull the skin off! Ish!
I manage to do it because Ben&Jerry's cheered for me =p
LOL! I was eating while skinning...Hard work owh-kay!
The bones from the chicken thigh and the lump of chicken skin!
If I weigh that lump of skin, I think I could get two more chicken drumstick! The skin is heavy!
Dinner tonight:
I tried my dad's fried chicken in fruity sauce* and it was a great success! Delicious! Oh and my all time favourite, steamed egg but instead of minced meat I used cabbage =D LOL!
I thought I could boil barley in rice cooker so I tried...but it didn't turn out well =p The rice cooker was cooking for ages and it doesn't turn off! I think I know why now...it was trying to dry up all the liquid! LOL! So I turned it off because the liquid was turning brown. No rock sugar so I used a little honey =p Doesn't taste like barley water at all...but edible la =p

Soft, strong wall...

Have you ever felt like you did something silly that made you realize how silly it was for doing it after some time? Worst still, people around you are telling you what a fool you've been. That is when you feel like the strong wall you have been building all this while just came down on you. But people still think you're 'strong' enough to handle it. Well, human beings have a soft...fragile and compassionate side of them. There are so many kinds of personalities in this world. Some people are not shy to show the world that they are weak, emotional people...yet some people are just protective, trying to look strong and tough on the outside.

People who looks (or try to) strong on the outside might not be really it...they are people who do not want to show that they have a soft, weak side of them. Is that wrong? Are they fakes?! I say no! They deserve to be respected for their efforts. They might have a reason for doing so in the first place. It might be that they do not want to disappoint people around them or simply just past experiences. Being human, it is never easy to look strong on the outside. It is something one have to build over the years and maintain. But there is always the weak side of them reminding the things lost, the people missed and the mistakes done. The least they need is sharp, mean words shooting at them.

If they make a mistake, the strong wall they have been building up all this while comes crumbling down, stay by their side and support them. Don't be the one causing the landslides...don't be the one telling them 'I told you so'...don't be the one questioning their mistakes. People make mistakes...and sometimes they make couple of the same mistakes before they finally realize (if ever). It is easy for us to tell people what we have gone through hoping that they will not fall for the same mistakes. But lessons of life is something to be learnt through experience. That is why no matter how much advice one take in, they still won't be the perfect person, they will make a mistake at some point.

Live your own life and treat people how you want to be treated. Don't tell people what to do and how to do it just because you feel it is the right thing to do. What you feel is right might not be right to them, or be right in general. All we need is people to support what WE want to do and not them telling us how to live our life like them or for them. Advices are good, sharing is caring...but don't expect people to take your advices and make no mistakes in life. That is close to impossible, actually, it is impossible.

Lunch today at Jun, another Chinese restaurant. I tried their sweet and sour chicken to compare with Lido and FuDo. The best! LOL! Don't need dinner today.

I swear I was in and awake when the postman drop this card! Even my flatmate said she didn't hear the intercom! These postmen are needles! Will have to go and collect it...soon =) *Excited*

No money back!

"I can't speak English!"
"Me donno English"
"Me no speak English"

For some reason, people think they could get away with it. I just don't understand why are they living in this country if they can't speak English! How do you order food at restaurants? Buy things from the supermarket? Ask for help with certain things in a shop? And most importantly, when you want to do an exchange for things you bought?! English is an International language! For goodness sake, learn it!

It gives us a really hard time explaining that our company does not do refunds because it is our company policy and so we will give you a gift card that is valid for 18 months and you can use it at any Sports World branch. And all I get is...
'Money back! Money back!'
'I'm sorry, we don't do refunds so I could only put it in a gift card'
'Me dunno English. Money back, money back'
'No! No money back!'
'Why?'
HELLO! You can't understand freaking English!!! How do you expect me to explain to you all of the above?! Sheeeeeesh!

However, I think I am getting used to serving those kind of customers now. It is either I could unconsciously make them understand what I say or I am just scary enough to make them accept it. LOL! Today a lady that doesn't speak English came in to return a pair of shoes which couldn't be returned as it was a clearance item. My colleague was serving her and she was soooo pissed (I could see it from her face) but she didn't show it. She just kept saying, "I am so confused right now. I don't know what she's saying! I am seriously going to walk away right now! I can't serve her anymore!". LOL! She kept saying it to my supervisor too!

So I volunteered to serve that English-illiterate lady. Bahah! I did it. I just had to raise my voice a little and kept talking/explaining till she doesn't have a chance to talk! LOL! It was a nice feeling =p Some people just need smacking in the face (with words of course)! Oh! I got an idea! I'll prepare a script translated to different languages and bring it to work! LOL!

*PS: Dip your hands in flavoured syrup, go out without gloves for 5minutes and you'll get a Popsicle! Yes, it is THAT cold! Roar!
